Building a

Student Enrichment

Mission Lexington believes that when we uphold each other, share God’s gifts, and move forward together, our entire community is better for it.

As a frontline responder, Mission Lexington brings people together to provide life essentials, resources and guidance. We start by recognizing that none of us are exempt from crisis and that it could be us on any given day.

We believe in instilling the values of kindness, empathy and philanthropy in children and students of all ages. When a child or young adult understands that THEY can make a difference for others in their community, no matter how old they are, we are creating a culture of compassion for others that could last a lifetime.

Mission Lexington encourages children and students to get involved in giving back in many different ways.

Bucks for Books Program

Bucks for Books is a program that allows us to connect to local Lexington County school districts. A member of our Bucks for Books team will visit your classroom to share a story about the importance of giving to others when we have more than we need. Our team member will also talk about Mission Lexington and what we do to help families in our area.

Each student gets a book to take home that day and recieves a “buck coupon” to return to our thrift shop for two more free books. We believe it’s important to encourage the spark of imagination that leads our youth to think about how they can make a difference in our community, state, country, and even world.

Socktober

This October, Mission Lexington and Kid President want your help to prove that even the smallest acts of love, like donating a pair of socks, can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors in our county. Donate a pair or package of any size or style socks during the month of October to give to someone in our community.

Hunger Games Food Drive Challenge 2019

Prepare yourselves for the battle of the year… THE FIGHT HUNGER GAMES! The battle royal will last 5 glorious days, February 4-8, 2019. This will be a competition like no other! The challenge extended before you is this…

Will you use your strengths and ambition to join together with your classmates to collect more food than any other school in Lexington County?

We can provide barrels to collect food and arrange a time to pick them back up. The school champions are determined by the MOST POUNDS of food collected.  To register  your school, click the link above.

Will you rise to the challenge and assist us with feeding OUR neighbors in need?

MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN OUR FAVOR,

THAT WE MAY COLLECT FOOD FOR

THEM TO EAT & SAVOR!

Middle & High School Service Learning

Are you a middle or high school teacher looking to include service learning in your classroom? Mission Lexington is happy to visit your class or allow your class to come for a tour of our facility. We discuss Mission Lexington, why we exist, and how we help families and individuals in our community in crisis. We then allow students to brainstorm ways that they feel they can help our ministry. You can implement volunteer tasks for students to complete, or special projects for your class like a food drive, book drive, or collecting bags.

Kid Cadets

Kid Cadets is a free summer 10-week interactive learning program for parents/adults to help their child complete both at home and through different opportunities at Mission Lexington and throughout the county. The purpose of Kid Cadets is to engage school-aged kids in the growth of Mission Lexington so that they can be ambassadors within their own communities. By giving them a mission every week, we can guide them as they learn to volunteer and support others.

Each week, there is a theme and action items to discuss and do at home together. Some weeks, there are special events and exciting opportunities to visit other locations.

Kid Cadets is a summer program. Check back for the 2019 summer schedule and sign up!

Volunteerism and Special Projects

We believe that students can benefit from volunteering free time in their community. Other ways for students to give back include hosting drives for needed items at Mission Lexington, collecting monetary donations through car washes, bake sales, lemonade stands, and more. We welcome your class, sports team, youth group or more to come and help with a special project at Mission Lexington.

*Please note that individual students (not in a group) must commit to a minimum of ten hours of volunteer time to be eligible to volunteer on a regular basis.

To sign up as a volunteer, please complete our volunteer application. For special accommodations for a group, please email volunteer@missionlexingtonsc.org
